Dhaka Ahsania Mission (DAM) will set up in phases ‘Children’s City’ for ten thousand orphan street children in Panchagarh district. The City will have ten ‘Villages’ each having 1000 children. Foundation of the first village was laid on 21 April 2011. The children aged between 6-8 years will be residents in each village till the age of 18. They will be imparted education up to SSC and Higher Secondary along with skill development training for rehabilitation in the society.

Meanwhile, DAM has submitted a proposal to the Ministry of Women and Children’s Affairs for establishment of three children’s villages for 3000 street orphans through GO-NGO partnership.

There are 13 lakh (1.3 million) street orphan children in the country.
