The NGO Federation in a statement welcomed the Government’s declaration of the National Policy on Women 2011 saying that some people who have been opposing the policy in the name of religion do not represent the views of the people, not to speak of the women.  The Federation, on the other hand, is of the opinion that the declared policy is not enough to fully protect the dignity and rights of the women. It urged upon the Government to implement a comprehensive policy on women with a view to ensuring their socio-economic role and development.
